Exploration Training Description

Research:
Reference:
- The above interventions were presented and compared in a study by Goldenberg, Daumüller, & Hagmann (2001). The researchers had clients with a history of stroke train on four complex ADL tasks.
- They found that "exploration training had no effect on performance, whereas direct training resulted in a significant reduction of errors and the amount of assist required to complete the task" (Gillen, 2009, p. 128).
- Two limitations to the study of the study are:
- The exploration training protocol did not involve practicing using the object (Gillen, 2009).
- There was no generalization from trained to untrained tasks (Gillen, 2009).
